ARchaeology is an AR experience designed to spark curiosity about museum curation and fossil excavation. Built from the ground up by me in collaboration with a team of 3 graphic designers and ideators, this unique application blends simulation with optimized performance for an immersive, educational, and fun experience.
In order to recreate the feeling of a real excavation site, I developed a dynamic terrain and physics system that updates only with significant user actions. This selective-update architecture boosted optimization during excavation simulations.
I also built a material update system to simulate the cleaning process of fossils, combined meshes and synchronized assets, ensuring a realistic and satisfying visual transition before bones are ready to be placed. This process required a data-driven state management to ensure seamless coordination of objects.
Finally, I ensured the full integration of the Meta SDK toolkit, adding triggers, grab mechanics, and life-size models. These elements were designed with accessibility in mind, making the experience easy to use and preserving the authenticity of the simulation. This project enhanced my abilities in spatial computing, interactive application design, and cooperation across a small team.
Core Focus: Physics, Materials, Meta SDK Integration
Bonus: Dinosaur models have real life sizes
