Obstetrics Emergency is a VR experience designed to train first responders in critical pre-eclampsia emergency situations. The project, being developed in partnership with SkillsVR, a New Zealand startup built to aid in rapid VR development, is intended to serve as a scalable framework for future medical projects.
I joined the project in early engineering phases and have been leading full-stack development of several areas, including the integration of APIs for Text-to-Speech and Speech-To-Text logic, to deliver lifelike question and feedback events during emergency scenarios, the engineering of answer-validation logic, using hash sets of possible answers in conjunction with the integrated APIs to assess user responses, and the deployment of a scenario-control architecture, designing event-driven logic and decision trees using node-based workflows, allowing for a more seamless adaptation to other medical situations that don’t involve pre-eclampsia
The next phase in the development of Obstetrics Emergency, starting early September 2025, include the integration of AI-assisted feedback loops powered by OpenAI, enabling the system to accept a wider range of response and better adapt to user input, resulting in more fluid and natural simulations.
